Yesterday as I was walking among the trees in the park at lunch, in my minds eye I saw them bent and broken, lying on the ground, as if by some natural disaster. As I walked along, I saw the destruction fade, replaced slowly by new growth, and as time passed, the beauty of the forested canopy return.

I realized that it is the same way in our lives. Most of us will, at some point in our lives, go through at least one traumatic event, and it may seem like the beauty in life we once enjoyed is gone forever. However, if we will let Him, God will bring healing with time. And like a forest after a fire, once again, new life will return. That doesn’t mean that the scars of what happened won’t be noticeable at times, but what it does mean, is that healing will come, life and beauty will return from the ashes.
